The Director General of Niger State Emergency Agency (NSEMA),
Muhammed Shaba, in an exclusive interview disclosed that over 1, 000 families had been displaced by the
flood which affected over 500 communities across the state.
Over 47 persons and farm products worth billions of naira
has been lost in Niger State this year as a result of floods in the
state.
He added that the state government has set up relief camps in five
local governments of Mokwa, Lavun, Munya, Edati, and Wushishi to cater
for the immediate needs of the over 5, 000 thousands displaced persons
Mr Shaba, while calling on the federal government to come to the aid
of the displaced people who have lost their livelihood to incessant
flooding across the state, however said that the state government has
put in measures to avert a re-occurrence of the sad development.
