NYSC Boy Caught In Armed Robbery Operation

Could this be poverty of what? Men of the Nigeria police, Kwara State command, on Tuesday paraded a youth corps member serving in the state and one other for alleged armed robbery.

The names of the suspects were given as Ajayi Joshua Oluwatosin and Taofeek Tobi Adesina. The suspects, armed with guns, were said to have invaded a phone shop along Taiwo road, Ilorin, the state capital on October 1, and carted away no fewer than 35 cell phones, including phone accessories.

The command Spokesperson, Fabode Olufemi, DSP, while addressing journalists at the command headquarters, Ilorin put the value of the phones and their accessories at about N400,000, adding that the suspects also dispossessed their victim of a sum of N8,850. Olufemi added: “The two suspects who initially pretended as customers later held the owner of the shop hostage at gun point.

They tied the victim’s two hands and sealed her mouth with cello tape to prevent her from raising alarm after which they ransacked the shop. "However, on receiving the information, police patrol team was immediately drafted to the scene and with the assistance of some passers-by, the youth corps member ran out of luck as he was pursued and eventually nabbed while his colleague escaped with their loots.

After intensive manhunt for the fleeing suspect, he was later traced to a hideout at Laduba area where he was arrested with a locally made double barrel pistol, two live cartridges.“ "Similarly, when his residence at Niger road was searched, one battle axe and a machete were recovered.”
