Entry Requirements

Candidates must have obtained the following qualifications, not earlier than 2008:
A.) Minimum of Lower Credit (or its equivalent) in any of the under-listed certificates:

i) Ordinary National Diploma (OND) issued by a Nigerian Polytechnic; or

ii) National Technical Certificate (NTC) or Advanced National Technical Certificate (ANTC) issued by the National Business and Technical Examinations Board (NABTEB); or


iii) Technicians Certificate or Ordinary Technicians’ Diploma (or its equivalent) issued by City & Guilds of London.

These certificates should have been obtained in any of the following (or related) fields of study:

i) Mechanical Engineering

ii) Electrical and Electronics Engineering/Electrical Installation in Maintenance Practice

iii) Applied Mechanical and Electrical Engineering (Mechatronics)

iv) Applied Mechanical, Electrical and Electronics Engineering


v) Industrial Measurement and Control/Instruments Mechanics Work

vi) Chemical Engineering

vii) Automation Engineering

B.) In addition, candidates are required mandatory to have five (5) 0′ Level credits (or equivalent) obtained in one (1) sitting in the following subjects:

i) Physics,

The Programme

The programme will last for 18 months. Students will be thoroughly engaged in rigorous theoretical and practical training at the Training Centre and exposed to industrial work experience in the various plants within Nestle Nigeria factories. Continuous assessment and appraisals of trainees will take place during the period of training.
The programme will provide practical training in three (3) core disciplines, namely:

Mechanical Operations,

Electrical / instrumentation operations,

Automation.

The training program will lead to the award of a Nestle Certificate of participation. In addition, students will be prepared and enrolled for the City and Guilds of London Technician Awards in Engineering.

Candidates who successfully complete the programme will be eligible to apply for employment in Nestle Nigeria Plc. depending on business need, while those who are unable to cope with its demands may be asked to withdraw from the programme before its completion.

Enrolment Condition

All enrolled students will receive a monthly student’s allowance to cover incidental expenses throughout the duration of the programme. Students will also benefit from the company’s canteen services as well as medical services at the company’s clinic.
Commencement of Programme

Successful candidates will commence training in September 2011.

JOB DESCRIPTION

MAIN RESPONSIBILITIES:


Develop, evaluate and maintain the project plans and master schedules.

Monitoring and integrating schedules developed by all Project packages, Contractors and Main Equipment Suppliers

In charge of Scheduling, Reporting, Risk Management and planning controlof the Project’s overall budget.

Co-ordinate Engineering Schedule and Procurement & Construction Schedule.

Be proactive in all matters relating to cost, planning and risk analysis
MAIN ACTIVITIES:

Develop Project scheduling, planning and progress measurement procedures. This includes the project reporting procedure.

Establish a Project work breakdown structure (WBS) for each sub-budget items in line with Project Progress and Cost control guidelines and Project execution.

Develop and maintain overall Baseline Project work plan and S-curves at adequate levels using sound techniques and proven tools. Integration of different Project segments from the given scope of work. to develop a logical comprehensive work plan

Evaluate, review and approve contractual submissions of Contractors’ procedures, schedules and S-curves as baseline planning documents. Identification of baseline critical paths

Continuous review of Contractors’ monthly progress schedules and reportsto ascertain true progress and provide early-warning to Project Managementof trends.

Anticipate any potential slippage and critical path deviations, propose and discuss mitigation and corrective actions with involved project parties highlighting critical programme areas and simulating strategies

Liaise with Cost Control Engineer to ensure consistency for installed quantities and spent engineering and construction man-hours figures

Work with limited supervision and with subordinates.

Prepare Project progress reports according to the project reportingprocedure.

Direct contact with all entities in the project and acting as primary planning interface between Project team and Planning departments of JV partner, Project subcontracting teams, Contractors and Main Equipment Suppliers.

Prepare Level 0, 1, 2, 3 & L4 schedules

Prepare Detailed Engineering Completion programmes

Prepare Procurement and Construction programmes

Identify risks to procurement and construction programme that may be caused by delays in Detailed Engineering

Provide support to COMPANY Technical partners as and when required by COMPANY.

JOB REQUIREMENTS
 Minimum of 6 years recent experience as Planning Engineer in a design & construction organisation, with prior a minimum of 10 years experience as a scheduler or planner with EPC contractors.

Proficient in the use of computerised planning tools, knowing the basics of the functionality of the program as well as advanced usage.

Proficient in the use of Primavera.

Excellent Communication (English language written and verbal) and interpersonal skills. Self confidence, patience under adversity, along with the ability to work to deadlines.

Minimum of 2 years (ideally) residence and working experience within an international environment and a multi-national, multi-cultural organisation

Fluent in English language

Work with limited supervision, leadership and autonomy is compulsory
