Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis officially announce split after months of rumours

Very sad news this evening – Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have officially parted ways after 14 years together. A representative for the couple told US magazine tonight: “Johnny Depp and Vanessa Paradis have amicably separated.

“Please respect their privacy and, more importantly, the privacy of their children.” The Hollywood couple never married, but have two children together Lily-Rose, 13, and son Jack, 10. Johnny, 49, and French singer Vanessa, 39, have kept their relationship extremely private, refusing to acknowledge a split despite rumours that they've been living separate lives for months.

Speaking about why they never got married in the past, Johnny said in 2010: "I never found myself needing that piece of paper. "Marriage is really from soul to soul, heart to heart. You don't need somebody to say, okay you're married." Earlier this year, Vanessa spoke about the concept of love and soul-mates in an interview with Stylist magazine.

She said: "I believe in love and I want to believe that it lasts forever. "But I'm like everyone else, you have to take things a day at a time and you can never know what comes next. All you can do is hope and love and live." And in a rare interview specifically about their relationship, Vanessa said about Johnny hree years ago: "There is a lot of friendship between us, respect and admiration. "I admire him as an actor, as a father, as a man. Above all, I admire the person he is. He's fantastic."

Exclusive: Drake Did 'Nothing Wrong' In Club Brawl, Birdman Says

ATLANTA — No matter the drama, Cash Money CEO Bryan "Birdman" Williams is riding with his artists. Never one to indulge in rap beef, on Friday (June 15) during an interview with MTV News, Stunna made it clear that he is in full support of Drake in the aftermath of Wednesday night's brawl in a New York City nightclub that involved Chris Brown and members of their respective crews.

"Well, to me, I think n---as got Drake twisted. A lot of n---as be playin', pitty-pattin' with Drake. I don't like that sh--, period," Birdman said to us in an exclusive interview.

"Drake is one of us, so if you f---in' with Drake, you f---in' with us, period!" Birdman wasn't in attendance when the fight broke out at W.I.P. in NYC, but firmly believes the Take Care MC did nothing wrong. Drake alleges he wasn't involved in the melee, which left a number of people injured including one of Brown's bodyguards and NBA player Tony Parker.

"To me, Drizzy ain't did nothin' wrong, he ain't done nothin' wrong to nobody. He just doin' great music," Bird said in defense of his artist. "He's not a reckless guy out there just wildin' out; he's a humble kid makin' great music." Drake Vows To Outdo Summer Jam At New York Show It's no secret that the #1 Stunna is about his money, and to him, beef is bad for business.

"We never been a brand to carry ourselves in any foul manner. None of us, none of the acts," he said of his Cash Money roster. "We've been doin' this, we want to do this for another 20 years." Still, the CM CEO understands how quickly things can get out of hand.

He recalls a time where shootings weren't uncommon between warring factions but now sees those types of altercations as a thing of the past. "It's a different era, and we don't promote that, we're not about that, but I think sometimes sh-- get outta hand, and you just gotta be ready for it," he said. "We did enough of that, so these n---as ain't got to do it." On Saturday (June 16), rumors of an imminent Drake arrest were circulating on the Net but an NYPD official confirmed to MTV News that were "no arrests" looming, adding that an "investigation is ongoing."

Miley Cyrus engaged to actor Liam Hemsworth

Miley Cyrus, the former Disney Channel child star whose growing pains have been played out in the glare of the world's media, announced her engagement on Wednesday at the age of 19 to "Hunger Games" actor Liam Hemsworth. Cyrus, whose "Hannah Montana" TV series made her a teen idol, said she was engaged to marry her Australian boyfriend Hemsworth, 22, after a three-year romance.

The news quickly became one of the world's top trends on Twitter, bringing thousands of congratulations from fans, as well as questions over the wisdom of settling down so young. Cyrus and Hemsworth have been dating on and off since meeting in 2009 on the set of film romance "The Last Song". "I'm so happy to be engaged and look forward to a life of happiness with Liam," Cyrus told People magazine.

"Thank you for all the love today. I'm happy to share this news with you all. I feel like all my dreams are coming true," the young star posted on Twitter. Cyrus's father, country singer Billy Ray Cyrus, who starred with her on "Hannah Montana", said he was delighted. "All I ever hoped for as a daddy was to see my kids reach their dreams.

To find happiness, peace of mind, and someday know true love," he told celebrity website HollywoodLife.com. Hemsworth proposed on May 31 with a 3.5-carat diamond ring, according to People magazine. No wedding date was announced, but talk quickly turned to whether they were too young for such a commitment. "A 3.5-carat diamond ring and an Australian fiancĂ© sound like a fairytale marriage, but teen pop star Miley Cyrus's engagement raises questions about the idealized dream she's modeling for the average teenager.

In other words: Can teen marriages last?" asked Allison Terry, writing for the Christian Science Monitor. The engagement was the main topic on female TV chat show "The Talk" on Wednesday, where "America's Got Talent" judge Sharon Osbourne spoke up for the singer. "I think that she is 19, but in her head she is an old soul. She has lived 19 lives in 19 years ... She is an accomplished young woman, who knows what she wants at this time in her life," Osbourne said. Fans of the starlet once known as "Smiley Miley" could barely believe how the time had flown.

"Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are ENGAGED? OMG I remember watching her on Hannah Montana for the first time. my bby grow up so fast :')" tweeted one fan, Hatoon. Cyrus was 12-years-old when she landed the part of a pop star by night and regular schoolgirl by day in Disney Channel's "Hannah Montana".

The role launched Cyrus as an international, chart-topping singer with hits like "Best of Both Worlds," "The Climb" "7 Things" and "Party in The USA". But when Cyrus quit the show at age 16, she also moved fast to shed her squeaky-clean image, performing in sexy outfits, making raunchy music videos and shocking fans by smoking the hallucinogenic herb salvia on her 18th birthday. Cyrus put her music career on hold two years ago to focus on acting, but her latest film "LOL" was a box office flop that was quickly released on DVD. And not everyone was feeling the love for the young couple. "Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth are engaged. Please excuse me while I stick my head in an oven" tweeted Girl's Got Issues.

Michael Jackson's sleepless note pulled from auction

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - A note written by Michael Jackson in which he complains of being unable to sleep has been withdrawn from auction at the request of the late singer's ex-wife Lisa Marie Presley, the auction house said on Wednesday. Jackson, who died in 2009 after asking his doctor to give him a powerful anesthetic to help him sleep, wrote the note to Presley sometime between 1993-1996, when they were close friends.

The two later became husband and wife. "Lisa I truly need this rest I haven't slept litterally (sic) in 4 days now. I need to be away from phones and business people. I must take care of my health first Im'(sic) crazy for you," reads the handwritten note, scrawled on yellow paper. Julien's Auctions, which had listed the letter in an upcoming celebrity memorabilia sale, said on Wednesday it pulled the note from its Music Icons auction on June 23rd and 24th at Presley's request.

"I'm assuming that it's because the note is of a personal nature, and we want to honor the request and continue our good relationship with Ms. Presley," chief executive Darren Julien said. The "Thriller" singer had struggled with insomnia for several years while alive. His personal physician, Dr. Conrad Murray, told police shortly after Jackson's death that the 50-year-old pop star pleaded for help sleeping during a long, restless night at his home on June 25, 2009, the day he died.

Murray was convicted last year of involuntary manslaughter after delivering a fatal dose of propofol - normally used to sedate patients for surgery - and a cocktail of sedatives to Jackson.

"Idol" finale slumps, but Phillips tops iTunes

LOS ANGELES (Reuters) - The "American Idol" finale audience slumped to a record low, but the show's newly crowned champion Phillip Phillips hit No.1 on iTunes on Thursday with his first single "Home." The 11-year-old Fox singing contest, once a TV industry juggernaut whose finale attracted more than 30 million viewers in 2006 and 2007, was watched by just 21.5 million viewers on Wednesday night, according to ratings data.

Viewers in the 18-49 age group most-coveted by advertisers dropped by about 32 percent compared to last year's "Idol," although the program was still the top show on U.S. television on Wednesday night. Fox executives said earlier this month that the audience drop-off this season had been greater than anticipated and that several tweaks were in the works to freshen the format for 2013.

Despite the smallest TV audience since the show began in 2002, viewers cast a record 132 million votes for finalists Phillips and 16-year-old singer Jessica Sanchez. And on Thursday, Phillips' first single, the folk-rock ballad "Home", topped the iTune charts, while his compilation album of "Idol" cover songs from Season 11 was in the No.3 spot. Phillips, an acoustic guitar player and songwriter, said "Home" didn't represent his style of music, which he described as more jazz and rock. "It's not really something I would write," the 21 year-old from Georgia told reporters on a conference call. "It's a little too pop for me. I don't really put in the ohs and oohs.

I am a little more rock than that," he said, adding that he was excited to get his own album out. Phillips, whose goofball humor and good looks won the hearts of millions of young women, said he was still adjusting to his newfound fame. "I hate being the center of attention," he said. He was the fifth consecutive male to win "American Idol," joining a club of so-called "white guys with guitars" who had previously taken home the winner's crown.

But Phillips said it was wrong to lump him in with recent Idols Scotty McCreery, Lee DeWyze, Kris Allen and David Cook. "They are probably better singers than I am, but I play the guitar a lot different ... I feel like I am different," he said. Fox said "American Idol" had held onto its spot as the most-watched show on U.S. television for the 2011-12 season just ended in total viewers, 18-49 year-olds and teens.

The talent contest helped Fox to its eighth straight season victory among 18-49 year-olds, outperforming CBS by 7 percent, third-place NBC by 28 percent and ABC by 33 percent. Earlier this week, CBS declared victory as the most-watched network among total audiences, saying it would end the season with 11.74 million viewers a night, on average, followed by Fox with 8.87 million, ABC at 8.36 million and NBC in 4th place at 7.38 million.

NOLLYWOOD TOP ACTRESS HIDDEN SECRETS EXPOSED

Has it ever crossed your mind that some of the children you think are yours may not actually be yours?

In Nollywood,as you read this, that is the spectacle that has just unfolded. It is also one topic on most lips in that sector right now.And the reason is this:an actress,a big one at that, who has always found it difficult to put her laps in one place as well as say no to handsome men just got exposed. One of her two children was not fathered by her husband.

The biological father of the baby,a girl,is a mulatto actor with whom she once had a whirlwind romance. Their secret shame just came to the open as the girl is getting older. She looks very much like her 'away father'.And because their romance was so pronounced then, many have begun murmuring about the little girl's paternity.

The s*x-crazy actress is very pretty and from South-South. Her hubby, also into entertainment, hails from South-West. The lover boy whose child she transferred to her husband doesn't know who his father is.Alphabets S, J and R begin the names of the trio respectively. Tracing the love story of the actor and actress,a reliable source told us that movie locations where they usually got paired together did the match making.

In fact, tales abound that the two at some point usually insisted that they must be cast together or no show. And because they had so perfected how to go about this, anytime a producer invited one person to work for him or her,the partner in crime must insist on the other also coming on board. And because they were so hot then, most producers had no choice than to do that. It was at one of the locations that the goal which the whole of Nollywood, and even those outside, are now screaming about was scored.

All eyes are currently on the two of them-especially as people eagerly want to know how their spouses will react upon hearing the messy story which is fast spreading all over the place.

2FACE AND ANNIE MACAULAY SETTLE FOR 6TH AVENUE,FESTAC,LAGOS HOUSE

Newlywed celebrity couple,2face and Annie Macaulay, have finally decided to make 6th Avenue,Festac Town,Lagos, their new home days after their secret court marriage. And this is authoritative. We learnt that the choice of Festac was largely informed by 2face’s love for the area he has spent all of his life in Lagos.

There were speculations before now that the couple may move to highbrow Island/Lekki axis of the mega city for the sake of Annie whose business is located there. But no place could be a better home for 2face than his beloved Festac Town.

Annie reportedly joined her husband after their secret court wedding. They have remained in the building described as a luxury apartment and one of the finest in the Festac hood.

The newest couple in town have also got the consent of their parents to proceed with other wedding ceremonies which like the ones they have already done may also be private. They are staging a traditional/church wedding later in the year.

WIZKID DRAWS THE BATTLE LINE ! BLASTS DAVIDO

The musician is angry at the suggestion that he is frightened by the fast rising profile of the Dami Duro crooner and wondered how he,an acclaimed musician and piece of the future could get frightened by Davido’s claims to limelight.

Honestly,I don’t know how someone could imagine that I’m afraid of Davido’s entrance into the Nigeria music scene. For me not to make it personal I think it’s something referred to my team.
Even the report had it that the whole of EME is jittery over his debuting Continuing,Wizkid who pointed at Naeto C of being the exponent of his three hot singles questioned HKN,Davido’s record-label when he enthused, how many crew members does he have in HKN?

I Support Gay Marriage---JAYZ

Jay Z discussed the gay issue with CNN, saying President Obama's decision to come out in support of gay marriage was "the right thing to do." He told CNN...

I’ve always thought it as something that was still holding the country back. What people do in their own homes is their business and you can choose to love whoever you love. That’s their business. It's no different than discriminating against blacks. It’s discrimination plain and simple.

Dbanj And Nadia Buari In Public Display Of Affection On Her Movie Set

I don't know if it's a serious relationship or eat and run  kinda relationship, but there's something definitely going on between these two. D'banj was in Ghana over the weekend for the Vodafone event that held on Friday May 11th and on Sunday May 13th, he pulled a Kanye.

You 'all remember Kanye went to the set of Kim's photo shoot to support his girl some days ago? Well, just two days ago, D'banj was on the set of a movie being shot in Ghana, not as an actor, but to show support to his lady love, Nadia Buari, who's the lead actress in the movie titled Single and Married, produced by Ghanaian actress Yvonne Nelson.

My sources exclusively told me that D'banj was in a mansion where some scenes were being shot, for over two hours. And in between takes, Nadia would go sit with him and they'd talk for a while. D'banj eventually left, and a few minutes later, Nadia followed in her car.

Nadia Buari is known for being a Ghallywood/Nollywood actress and ex-girlfriend of chelsea mid-fielder, Michael Essien, Goodluck to the couple

Rashidi Yekini was Never Sick or Mad he was Murdered

Again let me emphasis: Rashidi was not sick at the time he was abducted. Rashidi was never mad. He could have had periods of some depression but those were in the distant past. This is one of the most difficult articles I have ever written. I now believe that the universe sought me out some months ago for an assignment, to bear witness and to testify in the unfolding events surrounding the life and death of Rashidi Yekini! But why me? Within the football circle I believe I am one of a very few persons that Rashidi Yekini was comfortable with.

Secondly, in the past three months I have had the closest interaction with the man up till the time I received the shocking information that he had died. I could not relate the news with the circumstances of his life during this period. Some things simply did not fit the picture being painted. And someone needed to testify, clarify and debunk the ugly and false stories being peddled around to justify Rashidi’s death.

Since I received a call from him three months ago, I have learnt a great deal more about him, the things that happened to him, why he lived his life the way he did, that he was not physically or mentally unstable, that he ran into some misfortune and that he needed support and help to get back on his feet. I have known Rashidi since our days together in the Shooting Stars FC team in Ibadan, when as twin strikers in the 1984 African Club championship we had terrorised defenders all over Africa, freely banging in goals on our way to that year’s finals where we lost! That was to be my last year with Shooting Stars and indeed with football.

It was his first year! Beyond that we had kept a good relationship from a distance. Through the years I had tried to understand his choices of the kind of life he lived without criticising or even counselling him. His decision to join Abiola Babes FC of Abeokuta, his choice of going to play in Cote D’Ivoire, moving to Europe, making the Chairman of Africa Sports FC of Abidjan, an Ivorien, his agent and manager throughout his career, all were totally of his own independent making.

This clearly defined his character, that in spite of his obvious limitation in terms of academic capacity from the onset, he left no one in doubt that he was his own man and would choose his own path. He was very fiercely independent minded, never getting involved in the agitations, the politics, the power-play and the intrigues between officials and players, and even amongst the players themselves. All he cared about was to get on the field where he was extremely competitive and play football. He loved scoring goals and hardly ever exuberantly celebrated his goals. Thats why his first goal in the World Cup of 1994, against Bulgaria, and the manner he celebrated it remained the most memorable picture of that years’ championship.

As a player Rashidi was as reclusive as could possibly be. In camp players, that players had to share rooms in pairs, was the reason he lived with anyone. He was that kind of person. He would have preferred to be alone and enjoyed the solitude of his chosen way of life. Football gave him the only outlet to the rest of the world. Otherwise, you would find him sleeping, or saying his prayers, or playing pranks and cracking jokes with the players that visited his room. Beyond football, Rashidi did not want anyone coming too close to him, to know too much and to meddle in his business.

He kept his activities very close to his chest. So, even as we interacted as often as certain events brought us together I noticed his cautiousness. He was a very sensitive person. he tried never to hurt anyone, preferring to cut off any relationships that threatened his regimented sequestered lifestyle. One thing I was very sure of about him was that he never asked anything from anyone, and never wanted to depend on anyone for anything. Football for him had provided all his needs. In short, for Rashidi Yekini, football was everything and the only thing in his life.

It offered him the opportunity to escape from the pangs of poverty and he decided that the safest and best way to secure his future was not to fall victim to any smart Alecs, or scammers, or fraudsters, or business persons with sweet tongues that could talk him into parting with his hard-earned money. He did not want to be used or confused. So he built an impregnable wall around his existence, trusting only very few (he felt safer amongst the Hausa community, and did most of his very few business dealings with them). He worst fear was to lose his money. Thats why his celebrated one and only marriage crumbled after 3 months. He did not trust the motive of his wife for marrying him. So, he left the marriage before it even started. The same attitude underlined his relationship even with his family members. He took care of them, and provided for them, but from a safe distance.

It was a dangerous mixture – to be rich and famous and to be reclusive. Stories were bound to regale such an existence and with Rashidi they came in torrents. Yet, I fully I respected his choice of life and how he chose to live it, even though my every instinct wanted to support and guide him through the turbulences that I knew he would have to face managing unprecedented fame and fortune for a young man coming from his background. No one knew this whole scenario would become the apparatus for his tragic end. Rashidi’s death now raises many questions with no answers. The stories about his state of mind have clouded the circumstances of his death that should have been thoroughly investigated to show how, where, why he died the way he did. I know a mad man when I see one.

I can testify unequivocally along with some others that knew Rashidi from close-up that there was nothing wrong with him at the time he was abducted and died. Indeed, he was hale and hearty. Rashidi was not ill. He was fit and sound of mind and body. He even trained on the day he was forcefully taken away by people that have not come out to tell the world why they took him, where they took him, what happened there, who treated him for what ailment, what he died of, and so on. I can also testify that it was the misfortune that befell him a few years ago, that caused him great distress to the extent that he almost lost his life and his mind when his partner was killed and he lost most of his investment in their joint venture. That period was what some of his family members are saying to justify their wicked action in forcefully leading him to his death.

Rashidi was very so much into himself. He had very few close friends and kept even them in the dark about his plight and pains, preferring to deal with the issues himself. So, he did some ‘irrational’ things. So what?. Who would not do irrational things if they lost almost their entire fortune in one fell swoop? It took Rashidi a while to get over it (some two years or so). Playing his football daily, watching movies at his closest friend’s video shop, seeking some spiritual help, avoiding the public and public places, and bearing his own grief alone gradually eased the pain. That’s where his life was when from out of the blues he rang me up. Rashidi had never done that in all our relationship.

I was the one who always did the initial contacting. But some three months ago, he called me himself, and so started a new relationship that was going to bring Rashidi Yekini back to the game he loved with uncommon passion. I had assured him, after he had assured me he would fully cooperate, that he would never be far away from the game again. I assured him that the game could still help restore his lost fortunes. That he had to play it differently this time with kids as his instruments of change. He would help to nurture them, by showing and teaching them how to do the things he did best – position himself at the right place at the right time, evade tackles, and shoot accurately and powerfully with both feet, and score goals on the field of play. He was excited and raring to go. We had started discussing with companies and organizations in Lagos that would provide funds and logistical support.

ACTRESS TONTO DIKE BATTLES IBADAN POLITICIAN OVER N5MILLION DEBT

Alleged moneybag and ibadan politician Rotimi Ajanaku (who is rumoured to be eyeing the presidential elections come 2015) is at the centre of a messy debt scandal involving him and actress tonto dike. According to insider report
"Tonto was introduced to rotimi by fat yoruba actress Eniola Badmus. And both became friendly to the extent that when rotimi ran into debt in january this year,he called Tonto and begged her for a loan explaining that he needed to settle the bills of the lady who had delivered a baby for him amongst other bills.

He asked for a loan of N5million which she gave him and he promised to pay her back after five days when the cheque he was expecting cleared but he didn't redeem his promise and instead began to dodge the actress even to the extent of deleting her from his blackberry friendslist and refusing to take her calls"squealer continues"the actress gave the 'oni-igbese' an ultimatum to pay the borrowed sum or she would involve other friends but Mr Ajanaku did not respond.

The actress finally told their mutual friends about it,the mutual friends now informed the actress to step back and join the list of ladies waiting to collect back their monies from the suave talking politician who becomes incommunicado the minute he collects any loan.

" From the look of this story the borrowed money has probably gone down the drain but I urge tonto to donate money to charity next time instead of allowing herself become a victim of local scam!....tonto shine those your eyes biko! As for the alleged 'oni-igbese' please stop borrowing money from ladies and doing the vanishing act,the law of karma will soon catch up with you!.

Cameroonian Artists Protest Against Psquare Concert In Yaounde

Cameroonian artists under the canopy of Syndicat Camerounais de musicien (SYCAMU) have aired out their grievances against the mobile network service provider MTN for paying huge amounts of money to foreign artists to perform meanwhile Cameroonian artists wallow in abject pernury, often humbled to receive meagre sums of money for concerts.

They consider this a typical evidence of capital flight which contradicts the 8th May 2012 communique . SYCAMU president, Romeo Dika vented his dissatisfaction saying it is absolutely unfair for a mobile network company to pay 200 or 300 million CFA to foreign artists and can’t pay such sums to local artists.

The union is therefore planning a public manisfestation against MTN on May 18th , the date scheduled for the P SQUARE concert. Concertation meetings are ongoing with the Minister of Arts and Culture ,Ama Tutu Muna and the authority incharged of copyrights SOCAM. Remember it’s not been long the same union fired a bullet on MTN for involvement in piracy.
