The students' protest over the renaming of University of Lagos to Moshood Abiola University took a more serious dimension a few hours ago when the rampaging students clashed with officers of Nigerian Police Force stationed at the school's entry gate.
The students who had gathered at the entrance gate in continuation of their four-day protest were said to have ignored the police directive to vacate the area, a
development which Daily Trust learnt must have prompted the police to fired tear gas to disperse the students.
In the ensuing melee, a female student reportedly fainted and was rushed to the varsity's hospital. Her colleagues, vexed by the developed, launched their own attack at the police, hurling stones and broken bottles at the officers.
